2017 ends and 2018 storms in.

I am so proud of what Sound Check Studio's has accomplished in 2017. Our roster of instructors has grown with more talented musicians and also seen some of our favorite instructors say goodbye.

Our voice and piano instructor Rob Roach moved on from teaching with us to follow a dream of being a Milwaukee Police officer. He joined the police academy back in May and is still doing well.

Since Rob's departure, we welcome 2 talented instructors on board with us to take his place. Josh Becker of the band Cherry Pie and countless solo shows has started offering piano, guitar, drums and even flute lessons. We also welcomed Steven Joyal. Steven is a retired West Allis/West Milwaukee choir director that offers lessons on piano and voice.

We have the continued support of our other instructors of over 2 years Ali Frana, Jason Spottek, Jason Loveall and Justin Otto. These instructors have been so dedicated to their students and Sound Check that we are so grateful to have them teaching here.

Thank you to all of our students that have been with us for years and we look forward to all the new students coming to us in 2018.

Why we are here for music lessons...

Hello everyone... My name is Michael Grassman. I am the owner and drums/guitar instructor here at Sound Check Studios. I've decided to start this blog page for various reasons, mainly to showcase what we are doing, especially in regards to our students. I thought a great way to start this blog page is to give a background as to why I open this music lesson studio in Milwaukee.

I started playing drums when I was 12. I dove myself into anything I could throughout school, college and after that got me playing. I remember that thirst for hearing something new and how it inspired me. After college, I bounced around from job to job. Never had any success at anything because I didn't love any of those careers. I decided in 2008 that the only thing I loved and knew I would give 100% was music. I took a job at a local music store in Oconomowoc teaching one student. My foot in the door and I never looked back. After 4 years of teaching at various music stores, I decided that if I wanted to control all aspects of my teaching environment, I would need to open my own lesson studio. I wanted to spark that thirst in my students to absorb and dive into the joy of music. I also decided I wanted to surround myself with other instructors that were on the same page.

In January 2013, I pulled the trigger on moving forward. By June, Sound Check Studios was open where we are now. I am proud of what we do here. My instructors and myself are all on the same page to put the music first and students first and everything else second. We're constantly growing as instructors, learning new things (even though we are all well experienced) with the intention of always being fresh, inspirational and (for lack of a better word) hip.

Music is joyful. I search everyday for ways to keep inspiring that joy. When I see it in our students, I know we are doing something correct.
